Axis celebrate win with John Logie Baird Awards
An awards scheme which helps Scots inventors and innovators turn their dreams into reality has scooped a top award at the Scottish Event Awards.
The John Logie Baird Awards Programme, in association with Axis Media Group, beat off competition from the Scottish Social Services Council, The Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards and Visit Scotland’s Scottish Thistle Awards to scoop the award for Best B2B Awards Scheme.
Isabell Majewsky, chief executive of The GO Group – organisers of the JLB Awards, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the JLB Awards and testament to the success of the 2008 Awards which were re-launched following a five year absence. Winning such a prestigious award has given a real boost to the entire JLB team. It’s great to see our hard work recognised by an independent panel of judges.
“The awards are all about recognising and celebrating success within Scotland. Although we’re a small nation, we have repeatedly proven that we can make a significant impact to progress in the UK and the rest of the world. It’s the aim of the JLB Awards to reaffirm Scotland’s place on the global map for innovation.”
The JLB Awards recognise and celebrate innovation by encouraging the commercial exploitation of Scotland’s intellectual assets. The Awards’ key objectives are to identify and highlight innovative commercial ideas in Scotland, to provide a range of benefits and assistance to entrepreneurs and companies, and ultimately to optimise the commercialisation of the best business ideas in Scotland and beyond. The Awards have become a competition of national significance with more than 300 applications received annually.
