GO secure record government contract

1st October 2008

Go GroupGlasgow Opportunities (GO Group) has secured the contract to provide support to Scotland’s inventors and innovators through the Innovators Counselling and Advisory Service for Scotland (ICASS) for a record-breaking fourth time.

Initially launched by the Scottish Government to help the lone inventor with ideas and inventions, the service now advises thousands of Scottish inventors and businesses every year to understand the mechanism to develop, protect and commercialise their ideas.

Sue Lindsay, ICASS Programme Manager said: “This is a tremendous achievement for GO Group and all of the ICASS team. We are delighted to continue working with inventors and innovators in Scotland and provide them with a continuous and dedicated service, one that provides the best possible opportunities to successfully commercialise their ideas.”

Since its launch in 1999, ICASS has handled over 25,000 enquiries, helping inventors such as Tanya Ewing who developed the Ewgeco system to monitor energy as it is being used. Ewing went on to win the British Female Inventor of the Year Award 2008.

Lindsay added: “The work of ICASS and the GO Group has provided exceptional results. We’re looking forward to continuing this great service and helping Scottish inventors and innovators breakthrough and get their products to market.”

GO Group will continue to deliver ICASS services for the three-year term of the contract. The service spans across 34 locations in Scotland, offering regular clinics and one-to-one counselling sessions. As part of the support activity, GO Group have also re-launched the national John Logie Baird Awards for innovation, which aim to recognise and support up and coming inventors and innovators, with £20,000 worth of support up for grabs.
