Dr Tom GilhoolyAxis Media Group client Dr Gilhooly was interviewed this week on Saga 105.2, offering advice on naturopathic medicine to a wide range of listeners. Dr Gilhooly has a strong belief in the benefits of supplementation and wanted to help people stay well through the dark nights, fending off the winter demons of Seasonally Adjusted Disorder and depression.

Saga FM 105.2Over the past year, a large number of articles have appeared in the press and media advocating the fact that eating foods or taking supplements with more Omega 3 oils could be beneficial to health. The oils have been said to help with depression, children with ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia and have also been linked to improvements in quality of life for MS sufferers and those with heart conditions.

Dr Gilhooly shared his expertise in the benefits of Omega 3, Vitamin D (a vitamin which is frequently low in the blood stream of Scots due to the lack of sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere) and many other natural remedies on Saga including talking about Folic Acid, Selenium, Calcium, Zinc and Gingko Biloba. He believes that many people would rather choose natural remedies for health rather than traditional “allopathic” or drug-based medicine, but most GPs are not confident in explaining the benefits. He also offered advice as to how much people should take, which foods they should eat, what type of results they can expect to see, and why they might be taking supplements but seeing no change in their health.
