29/09/06 - CHARITABLE BOTTLED WATER COMPANY IS HAVING A BALL

Pollokshaws-based premium bottled water company Suio, has donated over 1000 bottles of water to two charity balls being held tomorrow night by the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and the St Margaret’s Hospice.

Lorraine KellyThe wild west themed Rocking Horse Ball for CHAS - hosted by Lorraine Kelly - is being held to celebrate the first anniversary of the CHAS children’s hospice Robin House. CHAS hospices offer respite care to the families of sick children, letting carers take a break from their daily routines.

In addition, Suio sales consultant, Francesco Cioa, 24, also ran a half marathon to raise money for the charity. As a youngster he frequently visited the CHAS hospice in Kinross with his nephew Paul McGinlay. The CHAS hospices offer respite care to the families of sick children, letting carers take a break from their daily routines. Paul, 26, who lives just across the road from Francesco in Muirend, suffers from the muscle-wasting disease Muscular Dystrophy, and as a result relies on his family and friends for day-to-day support, but still manages to do his bit for CHAS as well, working in the CHAS fundraising HQ in Glasgow.

Fundraising firm donates water

Francesco said:

"When I saw the fundraising request come in I knew it was a worthwhile cause, and the directors at Suio were pleased to help out, especially when they heard how much CHAS had given to my family in the past.”

He continued: “They’ve also been great with me, giving me free water to keep me hydrated and healthy as I trained for the Great Scottish Run. I’m hoping to raise as much money as I can for CHAS.”

Suio, a premium bottled water from Italy, is one of the healthiest waters on the market, as it is low in sodium and contains zero nitrates – as well as being high in valuable nutrients such as magnesium and calcium.

A healthy beverage for all guests

Gail McGraneChief fundraiser for the ball, BBC weathergirl Gail McGrane said:

"I wanted to show our appreciation at CHAS for Francesco and Paul’s fundraising efforts. The Rocking Horse Ball should be a fabulous night out, and we are grateful for the donation of Suio water.”

Suio are also providing water for another dance being held on the same night, in support of the St Margaret’s Hospice “Movie Stars Ball”. Suio chairman Tony Vezza has a personal connection with the hospice and is always keen to contribute to fundraising activities.
